Yelp organized a local city discovery. Invitation to Houston locals were sent out via email. Yelp coordinated the event with a reoccurring event in Houston called 2nd Saturday, which is a weekend event every second Saturday of each month. Local Houston artists in the 4th ward open Winter Studios and Galleries to the public for sales of their work, etc. In lieu of the event they took photos from local business (restaurants, bars, clubs, parks and gardens) and hung them throughout 3 local galleries. All photos were taken from Yelp users.

Pizaro’s Margherita Pizza was among the selected photos for the event and was placed at the Winter Street Studios. One of our customers (Erin) took a photo of the Margherita pizza on her first visit at the Montrose location shortly after opening. Erin also attended the event and we were able to talk with her about the photo.

Thanks Erin for choosing our Pizza to submit to the Exhibit!

Erin stated she wanted to capture the essence of our classic Margherita, she had both her children in tow on this visit. As she explained to us she had to work around the kids to get the right picture, but used and overhead shot to get it. Lighting was important to her, so her choice of seating made the difference. She elaborated that the large windows near the front door was a prime spot, as well the afternoon light provided a perfect glisten on the cheese.

Some other hot spots around town photographed in the event included: Lei Low (tiki bar), Breakfast Klub (restaurant), Rothko chapel (art exhibit), and the “We heart Houston” sign. Yelp also had a few local food trucks and eateries provide snacks and drinks at each location.
